Emergency Plug® for Electric Vehicles

Whether for personal or commercial use, electric vehicles (EV) add advanced, emissions-saving technologies to our roads - but also come with unique sets of issues. First responders often encounter these concerns on the job: Particularly, operators and workers can't always tell if an EV or hybrid is turned on, and accidentally tapping the gas could cause it to roll or drive away, jeopardizing lives and damaging properties in the process.

The Emergency Plug® was developed as a solution to this visibly growing safety hazard. Designed to limit unpredictable vehicle movement in just seconds, the Emergency Plug® communicates with the car's software, sending a signal that the car is charged. As a result, the car is engaged but won't surge ahead if the accelerator is pressed, and remains in place during emergency situations and while professionals perform maintenance.

Additionally, while an emerging market segment has resulted in a variety of charging protocols based on model and brand, the Emergency Plug® works with all EVs that comply with UN ECE R100 safety requirements.

Features:

  • Prevents EV and hybrid vehicles from driving away based on their own propulsion.
  • Will not switch off high voltage and main power once inserted.
  • Allows vehicle systems to continue working, including windows, seats and lights.
  • Universal fit adapts to any electric car and plug-in hybrid socket using type 1 or type 2.
  • Includes an adapter for the Tesla Super Charger port, the North American Standard for Tesla vehicles.
  • Equipped with a self-test function. Pressing a button lets you check if the Emergency Plug®'s software works correctly before connecting. When correctly operated, the luminous edge of the Emergency Plug® will turn green and show the device is ready to use.
  • The Emergency Plug® illuminates blue when active, letting you know the vehicle is safe to approach.
  • An electric car usually locks the charging plug to prevent theft. This makes it virtually impossible to disconnect while charging. The Emergency Plug® has been designed to disconnect whenever needed, allowing for easy release.
  • Designed to be plugged in at any time and in multiple situations.
  • Includes software updates.
  • Accommodates vehicles ranging from light cars to buses and heavy trucks
  • Designed for first responders and technicians in the following fields:
