The Kussmaul Auto Charge 11 Dual Battery Charger is a fully automatic 12-volt battery charger designed to charge and maintain dual battery banks in fire apparatus, rescue vehicles, ambulances, and other emergency or specialty vehicles. Delivering up to 10 amps of charging output, the Auto Charge 11 uses two independent charging circuits to sense and control the voltage and current supplied to each battery bank.
Because each battery bank is independently monitored and charged, parasitic electrical loads on one battery do not affect the charging performance of the second battery. Charging current is automatically distributed between the two battery banks according to their individual requirements, helping maintain proper battery condition in vehicles with differing electrical loads.
When one battery bank does not require charging, the available charger output can be directed to the other battery bank. This design optimizes the available charging capacity and provides efficient battery maintenance for emergency vehicles equipped with dual battery systems.
A front-mounted ammeter displays total charger output current for convenient monitoring. Optional remote bar graph displays and LED indicators are available for installations requiring vehicle-mounted charging status information. Rugged construction allows the charger to withstand the demanding conditions encountered in emergency vehicle applications.
