Description
The Kussmaul Auto Charge 20/20 is a fully automatic, integrated battery charger and Battery Saver Low Ripple system designed for emergency and specialty vehicles equipped with a single 12-volt battery bank. Providing 40 amps of total output capacity, the Auto Charge 20/20 combines a 20-amp battery charger with a separate 20-amp Battery Saver output to maintain the vehicle battery while supplying uninterrupted power to auxiliary electrical loads.
The charger operates automatically and stops charging when the battery is fully charged. Because the system does not continuously trickle charge the battery, it helps prevent overcharging and excessive water loss. Automatic current limiting and reverse polarity protection provide additional protection for the charger and vehicle electrical system.
The integrated Battery Saver Low Ripple output automatically removes connected accessory loads from the vehicle battery when AC shore power is supplied and powers them from the Battery Saver instead. This helps prevent parasitic electrical loads from discharging the vehicle battery while the apparatus is in station. Its clean, low-ripple output is designed to power radios and other mobile electronic equipment without causing electrical interference while providing uninterrupted power to connected accessories.
Separate front-panel ammeters provide convenient monitoring of battery charger and Battery Saver output currents. Dual cooling fans support reliable operation, while resettable AC input circuit breaker protection and a waterproof output circuit breaker provide additional electrical protection.
