The Kussmaul Auto Charge 2000 PLC is a microprocessor-controlled, fully automatic battery charger and Battery Saver system designed for emergency and specialty vehicles equipped with dual 12-volt battery banks. Providing 18 amps of total output capacity, the system combines a 15-amp battery charger with a 3-amp Battery Saver output to maintain vehicle batteries while supporting auxiliary electrical loads.
Parasitic Load Compensation allows the charger to account for continuous accessory loads from equipment such as flashlights, gas detectors, computers, and monitoring systems. By allowing the installer to enter the vehicle's total parasitic load current, the charger adjusts the absorption-stage transition point so the batteries can properly transition to float voltage at the desired charging current. This helps prevent parasitic loads from causing extended charging cycles, battery overcharging, and excessive heating.
A precision electronic voltage controller monitors battery voltage without requiring separate sense wires. Battery type selection switches allow charging parameters to be configured for Lead-Acid, Gel Cell, AGM, or Odyssey batteries, while selectable Float and 3-Step charging modes provide additional flexibility for different vehicle electrical systems.
Designed to withstand the shock and vibration of vehicle-mounted installations, the Auto Charge 2000 PLC includes a dual bar graph remote display for convenient battery monitoring and is compatible with select Kussmaul Auto Eject Deluxe Cover configurations.
