The Kussmaul Auto Pump Timer is an automatic duty-cycle controller designed to help protect compatible 12V Auto Pump air compressors from overheating and excessive wear caused by continuous operation. Designed for fire apparatus, rescue vehicles, and other emergency or specialty vehicles, the timer provides additional protection when excessive air system leakage or a system malfunction causes the Auto Pump to run continuously.
During normal operation, the Auto Pump pressure switch automatically starts the compressor when system pressure drops and shuts it off when proper pressure is restored. If an air system failure causes continuous compressor operation, the Auto Pump Timer limits the compressor run time to one hour and then provides a one-hour cool-down period before allowing operation to resume. The timer operates automatically without interfering with the normal function of the compressor or its pressure switch.
