The Kussmaul Load Manager 2 is a compact load management controller designed to automatically shed up to two electrical loads when low-voltage conditions are detected. Designed for fire apparatus, ambulances, rescue vehicles, command vehicles, and other specialty vehicle electrical systems, the Load Manager 2 helps reduce electrical demand and protect battery system performance by sequentially controlling non-critical electrical loads as system voltage decreases.
The Load Manager 2 continuously monitors the vehicle's 12 VDC electrical system. When system voltage drops below the preset threshold, the first relay operates to control or disconnect the first load. If voltage drops an additional 0.5 volts, the second relay operates to control the second load. Both relays provide normally open and normally closed 30-amp contacts, allowing flexible integration with a variety of vehicle electrical circuits. The voltage set point is field adjustable from 10.5 to 13 VDC, with a standard set point of 11.5 volts. When system voltage rises to an acceptable level, the Load Manager 2 automatically resets and restores normal operation.
