The Kussmaul Pump Plus HO Charger is an automatic dual-bank battery charger designed to maintain two 12 VDC vehicle battery banks while providing control for a compatible Auto Pump 12V air compressor. Designed for fire apparatus, ambulances, rescue vehicles, and other emergency and specialty vehicles, the Pump Plus HO delivers up to 11 amps of total charging output and independently charges and maintains both battery banks while keeping them electrically isolated from each other.
Two independent charging circuits monitor and control the current supplied to each battery bank, preventing parasitic loads on one battery from affecting the other. A patented built-in sensing circuit checks battery voltage 120 times per second and compensates for voltage drop in the charging wires, helping provide faster recharge times while preventing overcharging.
An integrated air compressor power mode selector switch allows operators to control when a compatible Auto Pump 12V operates. In DC mode, the compressor can operate from the vehicle battery whenever the pressure switch detects low system pressure. In AC mode, the compressor operates from the vehicle battery only when the vehicle is connected to shoreline power, allowing departments to limit compressor operation when the vehicle is unplugged.
