Out in the brush, on city streets or while fighting industrial fires, staying visible means staying safe.
A high-visibility vest, complete with a bright color and reflective strips, has been the default strategy. Fire Ninja took these characteristics and adapted them for the firefighting profession, with their efforts resulting in the Ultrabright Red-Fire Public Safety Vest.
It's built to be seen, whatever the mission calls for. And if you need to remove it at a moment's notice, the double breakaway zipper eliminates fumbling with fasteners, creating a six-point design that immediately detaches and slides off. Considering where you'll go, the performance cut enhances comfort and allows access to bunker gear pockets or a portable radio at the waistline. The chevron reflective pattern goes beyond the usual strips to help others spot you, even when visibility is poor.
What is a Class 2 safety vest? Of all the high-visibility classifications, this construction takes into account environments where others are less likely to identify you - for example, at worksites, alongside roadways and in inclement weather. Design-wise, they feature a minimum of 775 square inches of a high-visibility safety color (yellow or orange) and at least 201 square inches of reflective strips measuring at least 1.38 inches wide.
So that passersby, motorists, other firefighters and trapped occupants can spot you, Class 2 hi-vis vests include a stripe around the waist and two that pass over the shoulders and down the back. These aspects enhance your visibility in both day and nighttime conditions.
