Great tool, but I had to put it on a grinding wheel because the angle on the adze is ground into the bottom (handle) side - this causes the tool to slip when used for entry. I ground the edge down (losing about 1/4” of adze) and beveled the top edge the way I feel it should be. Since, I’ve used it extensively in training and on several incidents as well with great results. It’s a 5 star tool now, just took 30 minutes and a grinding wheel to get there.
This halligan can't be beat for the price. Bought it to make a decorative piece out of it, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out it's just as sturdy as any of the ones on our trucks. Did some grinding, sanding, and polishing on the tool and found that it seems to be a single piece of steel under the coating. No welds or pins holding it together. The size, weight, and shape feels similar to a Pro Bar, except it has a round handle instead of a hexagonal one. The coating on it feels durable and will help prevent rust, but it has a slightly rough texture which some people may not like but that's a preference. The tool's working ends seem to be heat treated in all the right spots. Overall it's a great tool that can compete with ones above it's price range.
As soon as you grab this piece you know you got the right till for the job. No reason to pay higher prices or worry about name recognition. Just go to work.
